Don and Marjorie Tarr Fund

tarrNorthfield Shares, Our Community Foundation is honored to steward a permanent endowment entrusted to our care by longtime Northfield residents and engaged community members, Don and Marjorie Tarr.

Many of you may have known Don and Marjorie as they made Northfield their home here for nearly 50 years. In addition to working at St. Olaf College, both were deeply active in many sectors of the community, including The Northfield Area Foundation (predecessor to Northfield Shares), First United Church of Christ, Community Action Center, Habitat for Humanity, Church Women United, Operation Hope, Northfield Arts Guild, and Northfield Public Schools.

Don was a founding member of the governing board of The Northfield Area Foundation, and was instrumental in establishing HealthFinders Collaborative MN, a community health center providing comprehensive health services to underserved and uninsured families in the Northfield Community.
Because Don and Marjorie believed so strongly in leaving a lasting legacy to benefit the Northfield Community for generations to come, they established an unrestricted permanent endowment to be managed by Our Community Foundation. Don and Marjorie made their estate gift through Northfield Shares because they trusted that the community foundation would thoughtfully manage and distribute the earnings on the fund annually and in perpetuity.

We are so grateful for Don and Marjorie’s vision and for choosing Northfield Shares to steward their gifts that will support our area forever!
