Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)

This opportunity begins June 18 and is ongoing.

Common Good Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is a program of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Winona, and funded in large part by the Corporation for National & Community Service and through other grants.  We serve 16 counties in Southern MN, including:  Rice, Le Sueur, Steele, Dodge, Blue Earth, Brown, Nicollet, Goodhue, Houston, Fillmore, Mower, Olmsted, Waseca, Watonwan, Winona and Wabasha.

RSVP links individuals age 55 and over with organizations or projects which can use their life-long wisdom and experiences to help meet critical community needs.  We do this by learning about an individual’s skills, interests, and availability.  Then we connect them to a mission they feel passionate about.  RSVP supports volunteers fully in their dedication to the project they have chosen.

Consistent with RSVP program focus areas, Common Good RSVP volunteers provide services to frail seniors, individuals with disabilities, and low income individuals.  Volunteers will provide service related to food delivery, transportation, companionship, respite, food pantry support, access to affordable food, home repair, affordable housing, and tutoring and educational assistance in elementary schools.

RSVP and has partnered with several local organizations in Rice County to provide volunteers supportive benefits at no cost to the organization or the volunteer.  These free benefits for volunteers 55 and over include mileage reimbursement, supplemental accident and liability insurance, and ongoing volunteer support and recognition.
